Disappointment
Blogged by.. Knight-errant @ 1:20 AM
Working in the pharmacy has all along been an enjoyable and happy activity, until yesterday.
I was scheduled to work full shift yesterday. As it was a public holiday (Vesak Day), I decided to perform cashier-ing to meet the demand of the shopping crowd. Around 5pm, I received a phone call from my branch in charge (Bernard). He asked me to head down to Thomson Guardian Pharmacy outlet immediately. He informed that the in-charge over at Thomson was alone and remarked that the latter was short-handed. In addition, he told me to just help out for about 2 hrs, upon which to then return back to our store.
Being obedient, I headed down to that Thomson outlet. Upon reaching, the store in-charge told me that she needs to leave for the hospital to visit her recovering dad. Initially, she told me that another part-timer would be there at around 7pm, upon which, I could leave the store.
However, to my disappointment, everything turned out different. As promised by that Thomson in-charge, I couldnt get her on her mobile when I needed help, the part-timer did not turn up, I had to manage the store, alone, myself! Hellos! I am just a part-time pharmacy assistant, equipped with product knowledge but not thorough end-of-day closing procedure. How could you guys leave the unfamiliar store to me, all alone? I need to go to the gents, need to take my dinner, need to serve multiple customers, attend to the cashier point, etc. The problem is that I just dont understand why there are such irresponsible people around. And worst, its pardonable to leave the whole store to me, BUT, please dont chase me over the phone when I am doing end of day closing! I am a perfectionist who detest "slip-short" work. And, why did you sound irritated over the phone (when I requested for help?)
Seriously, I am just disappointed with my in-charge's arrangement. I know he wanted to lend a helping hand. But, the problem is, was he assigning and sending the right person?Labels: mad
thanx for all the great kicks
