America Next Top Model?

Hmm, this afternoon's Business Communication class was more like training for "America Next Top Model". Hahas! Prof. Michael taught us standing posture, taking of breathe through our diaphragm and voice projection.

Apart from the above, Prof. Michael mentioned the following:

- Presentation is NOT conversation
- Presentation is NOT writing
- In terms of visual aids, it is the quality that counts and NOT the quantity
- Two things constant across all presentations are BODY and VOICE
- Flash is not a must in presentation
- You won't fall asleep in a conversation but you would fall asleep during a BORING presentation
- Must learn to capture audience's attention(Till the point that they don't dare to use their handpohone during your presentation
- We must have a purpose for audience to be in class

After advanced corporate finance class, headed to the Student Activities' Centre for my second blood donation. Mrs Nurse was just so skillful that she used minimum time in identifying my very "camouflaged" vein. Hehez

Articulate, Presenting and Debating!

My mouth has been working really hard these few days.

On Monday, my corporate lending professor asked the class on our school life in NTU. "Class, on a scale of 1 to 4, how would you rate your experience with NTU thus far?" I answered a 3.9 with the 0.1 left for improvements. Apart from that, I hope that I answered the other questions posted diligently. Questions like subprime mortgage loan and career objectives. And he commented to the class that I am an eligible bachelor who thinks far into family planning. But Wait! Why am I still single?

On Tuesday, my very first presentation for communication strategies module. I sure exceeded the time limit lotsa. However, was kind of delighted and relieved when my professor commented that he likes my presentation and written assignment. Zave! continue to JIAyous . . .

This morning, met the 2 judges for L'Oreal Pre-Case presentation. Seriously, the three of us did put in lotsa efforts in the past months. Moreover, the visuals were rather comprehensive, coupled with the really interesting role play. However, we failed to meet the time limit. Gosh! Was I taking too much time to only leave Xiaoying and Amanda with 5 minutes? Feel so guilty, even till now. The Q & A was tough and challenging too . . .

Challenges Ahead!

Woah! The past week was really a mad RUSH . . .

In terms of academic, did my social psychology revision, my paper & presentation preparation for communication strategies module, revised on both research methods and advanced corporate finance.

As for CCAs, went for my Student Union UOC'O8 main committee meeting and settled the powerpoint for L'Oreal International Competition. The whole saturday was spent on the latter (L'Oreal Project).

Met my NS Khaki, Khim Teck and my Mentor, Ms. Fong.

Hmm ... gonna put up two major presentations next week. Jiayous Zave!

Back To School!

School Reopens!

Went for my corporate lending class this morning, but only to realise that lesson starts only next week. Nevertheless, utilised the time at the free access lab to work on the powerpoint slides to the L'Oreal Marketing Competition. Met Dajie, Xinyan, for lunch before heading for my social psychology class. Hmm, lecture was fun and interesting just that there are too many house rules. Oops!

After class, headed back to lab to continue on the powerpoint slides before heading to Can 2 to meet the gals for dinner. Dinner was followed by Student Union main comm meeting. Hahas! A commuttee member actually asked me as to which batch was I from. He mentioned that it is tough to guess if I am in Year 1 or Year 2 of Uni study. Hehez! Implied Terms - I looked young? Lols =)

Back from Malaysia!

Finally back from my overseas trip.

Pangkor Island gives a different scenery and feel than when compared to an urbanised city. It is really a recommended place to relax and adopt a less developed standard of living. Will remember classic characters and episodes that happened during the trip. The island tour was interesting while water activities were eye-opening and thrilling. We had the opportunity to see real living sea cucumber and sea urchins. Moreover, we were given the chance to feed fishes in the middle of the big blue sea. We had our New Year countdown over at Malacca. Though the shopping trip was short, it was fruitful.

A message from Da Ge Jason:

"Hey Zhicong aka Zave,

Hope you enjoy the first road trip with all of us! Hope it did not traumatise you cos much you can see adults behave very childishly at times! Thank you for being a very "good" boy and providing us with a lot of fun and laughter! We needed you to instill some energy into us.

Thanks for teaching us a lot of new "pose" while taking photos! I would like to wish you all the best for your studies and also instill all the energy into the children during all CCF events. Good health and Good Luck for you and your family in 2008!"
