Three days of OCBC Orientation course ended yesterday.
The completion of this course means the start of me learning cheques and cash payment.
Before workshop started yesterday, one of my course mates complimented that I have pretty good dress sense. I guess its all about packaging oneself and respecting the working environment.

No obligation actually, but I went back to office after the course and had lunch with some of my colleagues. A few of them were pretty interested in knowing my LOVE life. Some even commented that its wierd of me (with my looks) not getting attached while others questioned if I attract guys as well. >.<

Met my NTU year one "clique" after work at Marina Waraku. It was really enjoyable and fun to meet all the familiar faces again. The sharing of our own work experiences and listening to interesting stories rendered by others was indeed meaningful. Realised that we are all actually giving the same amount of allowance to our parents despite me being most well-paid. Oops! =P

Guess my routine exercise regime helps as one of my friend commented that I really carry off executive wear. Not being complacent but instead, I shall work even harder.

一大清早，人力部门的职员就说我长得英俊。应该是剪了头发的关系吧！
老板是活泼友善的。比起当初面试时的严肃真是不一样。
部门的男生不多。。。可以说自己是 above average la!
这始终不是一份靠脸吃饭的工作。。。还是要发挥自己的最好！

一个人走在 Marina Square，看着人来人往的人群，聆听着背景音乐，瞭望着橱窗里的时尚。。。

昨天到了Marina Square 一趟。
一个人逛街购物也可以很充实，很满足。哈哈！
单单在 G2OOO 就花了S$245. 买了两件 French Cuff Long Sleeves, 一套 semi formal 的服饰和一件 executive pants.
也买了两条 slim cut 的领带 (见到宝) 和到 Club Marc Singapore 采购另一件线条 exeutive pants.

昨天到了TTSH 进行眼睛检验。一切正常，终于可以松一口气。

今天教了最后一堂 Training Workshop 因为下个星期将正式上班了！
现在的学生真的跟以往不同。他们的精力充沛也有自己一套（另类）的想法。
在新加坡体育学校教书更需要更多的耐性和精力。
已不能用普通的例子来做比喻（好闷啊！）。。。还好，我灵机一动，用了 Prada, Gucci, LV 以便捉住他们的注意力。哈哈！

今早到了华桥银行签约。
已决定了，已肯定了。。。我将面临全新的工作体验。哈哈！
开心的是。。。很快也将会有四位数入袋！

在上班之前，是累的咯！
身体检查是必然的。一切已搞定！

做完身体检查之后，到了 Polyclinic 看医生。
最近右眼总是不听话。。。总觉得疼痛。戴影形眼镜时更不舒服，视觉也不清楚。
虽然医生说没事，但我还是要求了到 TTSH 的 referral letter.
这两个星期，我将告别影形眼镜。。。Boo~！

NTU Students' Union 19th Exco Investiture

昨晚出席了NTU Students' Union 19th Exco 的接任典礼。
隔了大概两个月再一次回返校园别有一种另类的感觉。
获知自己是大会的得奖嘉宾，心里百感交集。

喜：开心是一定的。毕竟，这是大会给与的一份殊荣。一年为Union Orientation Camp 2009 的拼搏，总算获得老板们的肯定。自己为 main committee, sub committee 和 senior attached 准备了奖座，自己却没有。哈哈！被获颁 Union Gold Award 也算是给与自己一年来的成绩单。

烦：当我获知自己是得奖人后，想了很久，不知到应不应该出席。总觉得毕业了又回到校园有点怪怪的。哈哈！为了给我的老板们面子，我终于出席了。。。

很开心看到熟悉的面孔也为我两位 main committee members 感到开心和骄傲！他们成了19th Exco Committee 的成员。相信这一年来，他们有的忙了。

去年的昨天，我带领了UOC09 planning committee 出席了18th Exco Committee 的接任仪式。当时的我是坐在观众席的一位观礼者。今年我则带着得奖人的身份出席，感觉完全不同。

这也证明了我已完成在一年前所许下的承诺。。。把 UOC 2009 搞得有声有色 =）

时光飞逝。。。
从毕业典礼至今已经有大概两个月了。在这期间，我也很积极地在找我理想的工作。
除了金融和心理学领域，我有兴趣的地方包括教育和人士部。
算了一算，我也赴了大约七个面试活动。。。

很开心在这期间找到了一份兼职工作。
这工作就是当一名 workshop trainer。
除了薪水方面，会开心也是因为受到学生的爱戴。。。毕竟自己也喜欢做 presentations 。
老板只经过两个workshop，就要求我当他的全职员工。
愣住了！我的努力这么快就受到肯定。。。是惊讶但喜悦的！
相信是刚带方帽的因素吧（fresh graduate 的心态），我应该不会把这工作接下。

华桥银行开出的条件是合理的。
无论是月薪或工作都是我满意的。
接近三千块的酬劳是会让人心动的。
我已答应了。。。

可是。。。
心理还是在等着教书的机会。

刚完成两天的 Environmental Health Workshop ...
参与的都是中一至中四的学生。
真的。时光飞逝！我足足大他们整整有大概十岁...普升成他们的导师别有一番韵味和感觉.
从开始玩 eyes breaking games 到预备他们上台作演讲至获颁 Best Group 的荣誉 ... 一切是值得的！
最出乎预料的是，两天的Workshop 都是我的组获胜！真的感觉到什么是叫做 "黑马" ...
也没想到会有学生要求要我的手机号码 ... 令人惊讶的是 ... 都是男同学 ... 最后只给了 facebook 的户头电邮.
很享受跟学生玩在一起的感觉.
很享受有学生缘.
很享受我朋友说我所谓有的"老师"样.
我是否应该尝试当一当老师？

UOC 2009 (Cest Un Secret) 终于落幕了！
整体来说，一切还算顺利，一切还算圆满吧。一年的努力也总算有收获了。
不知道别人如何看待我这位主席。但是，我认为今年的 camp 的却比往年更用心，更精彩。

我们有了：

- Camp Production
- Camp Opening (Introduction of main committee members, Mass Dance by main committee members, screening of "Cest Un Secret" video)
- Orientation Groups need to deduce who is the actual murderer using the case file and clues given
- Chocolates hampers, trophies, etc for all the 8 orientation groups
- Appreciation plaques and medals for main commers, sub commers and senior attached
- Initiation of "Best Programmer" award
- Calendar cards instead of postcards given during openhouse
- Color printing for dry-fit T-shirt and our very own UOC 2009 foolscap for all freshies
- Better food
- First ever camp that raised over S$40,000/-
- Personalied birthday ecards for all main commers

我非常感谢一直以来支持和相信我的人。虽然我体验了“飞的越高越寂寞”这个道理。但我还是相信自己。我不可以阻止人们的评语但是我能够监顾学业和筹备 UOC 2009 证明了我的实力。想做主席，学业搞到一塌糊涂。这算有实力吗？毕竟，我也顺利毕业也完成我对 Students' Union 许下的承诺。

Part 1 of "Cest Un Secret" 终于落幕了！
我相信一切是顺利的吧。但然，一定有可改进和进步的地方。
这三天百感交集。嗨！感性的我又来了！

开心：看到所有人的用心真令我感到欣慰。一年来的努力应该会有好收获吧。

怒：见到真人心已不是新鲜事了。一个人有长处一定有短处。别人我可以不管，但对于我自己一定要不断的提升，不断的改进。现阶段的我, 应该就是要学会如何放开，呈现更自然的自己

累：这三天都很早起床，为的就是要早一点到节目现场。毕竟，我又不住在学校宿舍而且我非常相信 "lead by example" 这个道理。怎么说，身为主席得我压力因该比别人来的大吧

乐：看到 UOC 新生代真得让我联想到时光飞逝。一转眼，我足足跟了UOC 4 年了。一路从 freshie 到 program subcomm 在普什到 main programmer。在毕业这年也当上了 chairperson。别具意义。新生代的努力和活力让我能够安心的卸任。毕竟，我已毕业了！

怪：还在摸索 “暧昧过后的尴尬" 真正的理由。我放下但她能吗？如果不能的话，怎么做回朋友呢？

Hair for Hope 2007

Time flies, it is my third year of participation into Children Cancer Foundation's Hair for Hope event. In comparision to last year, this year's event is definitely quieter than last year. It might be due to H1NI, current economy in bad shape, etceteras. Nonetheless, yesterday event was an astounding success.

Apart from the encouraging moments triggered by the courageous actions of the participating shavees, honestly, I almost teared for two scenes.

There was this pair of couple who participated as registered shavees. From their appearances, passerbys would have assumed that they are normal participants in the event. However, thoughts changed when the lady (the wife) took out a photograph (alike those in wooden frame used during funeral). The photograph pictures a very very young girl with a very sunshine and cute smile, almost diminishing her eyes. Guess what? This little girl had passed on after a tough struggle with children cancer.

Next scene was during testimonial sharing by a caregiver (mother to a cancer kid). She was saying that her son was on the risk of contracting chemical-induced diabetes in view of the drugs been administered. Hence, the kid had to go through 7 blood test daily to detect any possibilities of contracting this specific diabetes. It was after a couple of days after when the kid looked at his mother and said: "Mummy, I have no more fingers left to be pricked."

The past two days were all about filming for UOC 2009 camp opening video.
Through this production process, I realised that:

- I really CANNOT get angry >.< (must act angry)
- I am definitely a "汗"宝宝. (apologies to HY for "tasting" my sweat)
- Its really not easy being an artiste. The shag and tiredness at the end of each filming day. The numerous takes from different angles and multiple repeats of shots
- The constant changing of attire for different scenes is really a BIG challenge. Imagine changing your gear in a van while others are filming for their scenes. Wouch!

Nevetheless, it was a memorable and fun experience. Photos to be uploaded soon! =_)

It was UOC 2009 last meeting yesterday ...
As usual, emotion-al me sat thinking and recollecting ...

UOC 2009 is really a challenging one this year.
I was telling myself: "别人做主席, 能够做得这样轻松。我做主席怎么就这么多挑战呢?"
Perhaps it is the perfection-ist character in myself or maybe really want to present a different and memorable camp this year.
Apart from the usual inevitable politics, freshmen are not allowed to stay in NTU hostel during the orientation period. It is also challeging to engage members to participate in all the different canvassing events.
Many years back, I learnt how to let things go and not to make things or situations difficult for myself. However, when you receive negative feedbacks from anyone of your committee members, 说没有感觉是骗人的。真的！
Why do people interpret me differently when I tried all means to reward and bond my committee members. They are the people that make things happen and I ought to do these, at least in my own opinion. It doesnt mean that if past chairperson did not practise it, I should also follow suit right?

不管怎么样，我真的要谢谢那些给于我尊敬，相信和信任的人。
是你们让我一路走到现在。
就在我对于筹备UOC 有一丝疲惫和瓶颈的时候，是你们的话推动我一定要往前走。。。
当昨天的会议结束时，我收到了一张生日卡片。上面写着：

Happy Birthday! 老一岁了wor!
It's great to work for you. Even as a chairperson, you seem to maintain a personal touch with everyone. I've a lot to learn from you too.

Things R unpredictable

It was only last Tuesday when I brought home-made rice dumplings for my grandmother. She was still eating away happily ...

This Tuesday, she complained of whole body ache after a struggle with food poisoning. Things turned quite bad on the day itself. She remarked feeling of no strength and was admitted into hospital after wetting her pants for the very first time.

When I visited her on Wednesday, situations seem discouraging. She could hardly keep her eyes open for more than one minute. In addition, she was running a high fever then coupled with the difficulties in moving the left side of her body.

Everything seems well on Thursday but things were back to square one yesterday. She complained of running a fever again. It was indeed true, 38 degrees for an old lady in her mid 80s. Her condition is worrying as she mistook the hospital of her residence even despite numerous reminders that she is in hopsital.

I am praying hard for things to turn pink. My paternal grandfather deceased approximately 11 years ago and both my maternal grandparents passed away long long ago. My grandmother is the last "survivor" ... I wish I wish ...

Checked my results yesterday morning before going for UOC09 Canvassing - "Student Union Golf Tournament cum fundraising event". For my very last semester in Nanyang Business School, I scored a GPA of 4.00. I am really happy that our team scored an ACE for our final year project. I trust that we really deserve it. I am happy because I played a major role in coordinating and contributing to that project. In addition, there was a lot of independent work (not seeking much help) from Prof and our report actually went through a second marker (moderator) to certify that the paper really worths an Ace.

Student Union Golf Tournament cum fundraising event was an astounding success. It was a day when I played the role of external coordinator, logistics, public relations, etc. When others remarked that they were not possible to find appropriate performances for the event, I proved otherwise. Thank you so much to NTU Chinese Orchestra, Malay Language and Cultural Society and NTU CAC Modern Jazz for performing at last evening's dinner. It was also yesterday that I realised that I should continue with equal or as much efforts for UOC 2009 . . .

When there are definitely people who have below average views about me, there are others who are supportive of me. Sometimes, I feel that I myself are really thinking too much. Haha~ I trust that its always good to be less influenced by others. As long as there is still an individual who is supportive for me, I shall continue ...

My internship boss is offering me a position in her department. The job is different from what I did during last attachment and is under the graduate programme initiated by both Monetary Authority of Singapore and BNP Paribas. Elements that attract me are the pleasurable work environment and direct entry without interview. However, I do have some concerns. They are that employee compensation can perhaps be better, job scope may not be what I really desire doing and also the "nightmares" of working in Raffles Place. . . . But looking at the current economy health and predicaments that large corporations are in, I just this offer is at least attractive?

A day with SO MUCH "happenings" . . .

I was being scheduled a casting for one of the banks' upcoming commercial. Hence, woke up at 730am to prepare myself and to be on time. However, I was informed that my grandmother suffered a rather terrible fall. It was only after visiting her that I realised that there is a pretty deep cut at the back of her head. I am just glad that the wound has since stopped bleeding.

The scheduled casting was fast and I should say "chop chop"! I was told to do some close-up face-shots, left-right side view shoots and the "challenging" task was for me to perform a total of three expressions. They were "shocked", "confused" and "happy"! Wonder how I performed??? Hmmm ... in any case, shall let nature takes its course. Hehe =P

Met Xy for lunch at Toa Payoh Lorong Eight BUT the famous "Kueh Chap" store wasnt opened. Boohoo~ We ended up eating "Bak Kut Teh" and vegetables rice respectively. After lunch, we went to the very famous "Loong Fatt" outlet to purchase the delicious "dou sha bing". Subsequently, we went to Shaw House to catch "Friday the 13th". Seriously, the movie is rather brutal but met my expectations nonetheless. It was so funny ... Xy was like covering her face with both her palms throughout the 97 minutes show.

Did the very last paper of my university (bachelor level) life this morning.
It was also my last psychology paper to clock my psychology minor. I did it! =)
Paper was really very easy which means its harder to get an Ace according to the forced distribution. Just glad that everything is over. =_) (Jumping with JOY)

I guess now what I have to do is to focus on UOC 09 planning and find a part time job for the time being (as buffer).

Did my 311 paper today.
How should I put it . . .
I guess the paper wasnt difficult in comparision to past semestral examinations.
It was NON-STOP of writing from 9am to 1130am. My hard was sore BUT I could not bear to stop.
The feeling was very strange.
Being in our final year of study, we are supposingly considered to be "veterans" for examinations BUT the feeling, at least for myself, was strange ....
As you get closer to graduation (convocation), the stress level seems higher. This is independent of the difficulty of the paper but MORE like you cannot do anything wrong as you have to graduate ...

This award is an initation by Mr. Anthony Huray and Nanyang Business School to recognize outstanding business students who contributed to the society. It was a couple of months back when Xiaoying nominated me for the award and I was requested by Nanyang Business School to do a write-up for the panel of judges.

I am glad that I was one of the 6 finalists for this category (out of a total of 12 nominees). Though I did not emerge as the ultimate winner, I am really happy that the best man won!

Here are my words:

It was a couple of weeks ago when I visited Dylan at KKH. He was awaiting to be operated then. Time flies!! Dylan has pulled through and the operation was a success! Whee~ It was indeed great to hear from Suzi that Dylan has removed his stitches today and the wounds are healing fast. Dylan, you are a brave boy!

Guys, do remember to tune in to Channel 8's "Tuesday Report" next week. It showcases the story of a beneficiary of Children Cancer Foundation. I trust and guess that its definitely worth viewing that episode. =)

Watched "Departure" with my tutorial group mates.
I guess that majority of Japanese movies often do not involve big magnificent scenes, violence fight views, large capital investment and/or the cast of famous international celebrities.
What I like about Japanese film is that they always send you home thinking ....
Reflecting about the importance of kinship, friendship, relationship, etc and most important, the main message of that movie.
In addition, "twists" are definitely what Japanese films are good at.

Guess which is me ....???

Recently, one of my primary school classmates "tagged" me on facebook. The picture (refer complementary picture) is actually one taken 12 years back. Haha! We are now trying to plan for a Primary 6 class outing. Hope my collation of particulars and contact will be done soon and the outing can be up and going. =)

Finally, I have some free time of my own. Done with nomination write-up, sending of UOC meeting agenda, my part to final year project, submission of proposal report (fyp) to prof and academics reading for this week. Hooray! Was again last in Cesim simulation game AGAIN for the week. This is really discouraging BUT hopefully "Ultima" shall REVIVE by next week. Hehe =_) Psychology mid-term would have been better if I have studied the lecture notes and not only textbook alone. "Fill in the blanks" is really crazy .... anyway, its over. I shall move on ...

Woke up in the morning and saw thia sms from Benny:

"Who said V day is only for couples? It's a day to celebrate friendships as well. Happy friendship day to all!! Got extra chocolates must share!!! Haha..."

This sms is so comforting for single. I guess this is the reason as to why Benny is always so outstanding in radio practicum last semester. =_)

Finally done with my proposal report for my applied research project professor. I guess its a one step closer to getting an ACE for Desmond, David and myself. We put in effort though ... cooped ourselves the whole day in national library. Ultimately, its all the hard work that counts. Isnt it? Seriously, I am so proud of myself to have almost completed the main report and of course, accomplished the proposal report myself! Yeah!

Haha ... was doing and discussing our strategy management preso for next week when Jasmine remarked that the new adjective, similar to diligent or conscientous, will be "Zave"! As in, for example, "ABC is very Zave". I guess she said that after seeing those mindmaps I drew for the past chapters and how I prepare my points for dicussion. Yeah. I am diligent. =_)

I guess life has been REALLY busy for me (as evident from the absence of blog updates)
As usual, I am busy with academic work (Strategic Management is DEFINITELY time consuming), Applied Research Project and the planning of Union Orientation Camp 2009.

Updates!!!

Academic Work - Aced my paper on individual case writeup (assume that the 3 days of writing 4000 plus words are worthwhile)! Hei Hei =p Nevertheless, I guess our group "Ultima" needs more luck in our strategy management game. Boohoo~ A drop from the second position to the last.

Applied Research Project - We are within our timeframe at least. Am glad that our supervising professor complimented that our team is rather independent. I am really proud of myself in doing up the project layout and research model. Lets soon move into data analysis.

Union Orientation Camp (Planning) - I guess I shouldnt have much to worry as long as my conscience is clear. As of what my friend said, its voluntary of me to take up the role of coordinator for this year camp. Hence, I should not be bothered much by the influence of minority. And of course, done with our committee phototaking .... =D Special thanks to Crystal and Ronnie. =p

It was just like yesterday when we had our Christmas gathering party.
Time flies man! The most important (first few days) days of Lunar Chinese New Year are over.
My uncle came to my residence for chinese new year visit on Monday. He brought along a much bigger PC monitor with him. I thought everything is gonna be well until yesterday when I used my desktop to work on my final year project. Guess what! There was a bright sparkle of white light from behind the CPU and everything went OFF! Gosh! and it caused everything (electrical sources) to "trip" at home! Ouch >.< Thus, I am back in school now using the computer ... boohoo~

It is the second week of school . . . and so many things happened.
Why is it that things always come together?
I am surviving BUT why am I feeling discouraged?

Academia has been fine for me. Doing consistent revision and mugging as usual.
Final Year Report. Status: 1/6 chapters completed (within forecasted timeline).

Perhaps its more for UOC? I guess ...
Ever since the very first day when Student Union Executive Committee entrusted me the role of the coordinator of UOC, I have been putting measurable efforts to put things together, looking after the welfare of my people (I know that its the people that make things happen), and trying all means to bond the committee (what not done by previous coordinator). I truly know that my conscience is clear and everything I do is to at least ensure the availability of a reasonable camp for the incoming feshies.

Everything went well for the first semester BUT things get abit out of hand when it came to Chinese New Year goodie sale. The table suddenly feel so un-united with the occurrence of email wars. I am so affected . . .even till now. Am I wrong as a coordinator to send an email to "neutralise" everything? In the end, I only got mis-interpreted. I am definitely not "shooting people". I am just trying to bring confidence and the usual bonding back. Why is it just so difficult?

And its today that I received an msn that the vice chief group leader is disappointed of not being made useful. Honestly, I did not do that on purpose. We have him on the table to assist the chief group leader who will be away for internship for quite some time. The former's low involvement in management's discussion is also due to the fact that I hope that he can have more time for his study.

I am not someone who goes for prestige or glory. Term like "Chairperson" is what others give you or perhaps passed down by earlier committee. I will continue to uphold my role as I promised a couple of months ago, take care of my people as long as my conscience is clear. As long as I can continue to coordinate the planning of UOC, I will do that.

Hope recent garang guni event and tmr UOC dinner will turn things for a better?

As this is my very first post in year 2009, let me wish all readers a joyous and blessed year ahead.

Engaged myself in house-keeping yesterday and went to distribute flyers for garang guni collection(all for UOC 09 canvassing). Together with Frank, Roslyn, Charlie, Kai Xiang, Jia wei, Pei Yi and Mun Fong, Chloe, Siew Huai and Jeremy, we combed and disseminated flyers to a total of three estates, approximately 35 blocks. All was done in hope of a successful collection next Saturday.

Gosh! Leg aching and toes hurting ... time to rest.

(ps. It is definitely not easy to be a garang guni nor a dor-to-door salesman. Auntie, if next time a person happened to say "hello" to you at your doorstep, do lend a listening ear. =))

It is 29th Dec 2008; Sunday; @ 0:04 hrs and there are so many NTU friends on board MSN. Why is this so? Cos ..... its semestral results release. =)
Will check my "fruits of labor" only tmr as its going to be a network jam and discussion of grades online NOW ...

Did not involve myself in part-time work this vacation in view of my final year project. The holidays are mainly spent reading library books for fyp, working out and resting before engaging in my last semester of study.

Was selected and approved by i-models's bookers for an interview at the agency. The interview went fine and was graded a "very good" at the end of the session. It was funny when the model consultant asked if I can grow taller at the age of 24. Anyway, I rejected their offer as it costs S$680 to do up a personal portfolio for marketing to global client. Will the possibility of being a freelance model comes true?

Have been spending measurable amount of time and committing myself to Children Cancer Foundation's events and gatherings. Worth remembering are the annual camp, Christmas gathering and visiting "Ah Ma"'s wine bar! The next CCF event will perhaps be sometime in April.

Putting CCF aside, still on my agenda are my final year project and the planning for Student Union Orientation Camp 2009. So far So good BUT of course things can be better!

It is going to be a busy day for me tmr. Need to send out emails, return library books, Union meeting, etc.

Did not get the chance to update my blog as I was away for Children Cancer Foundation Camp from Friday to Sunday and attended "First-aider & Heart saver" course these two days. All people representing UOC'09 passed both the theory and "one man CPR" practical test. Great Job Guys! Watch out this space for more course snapshots.

Initially, I thought I wont be attending this year's camp as I was unable to attend the briefing in view of my cousin's wedding. Hence, I actually relinquished my group leader role to my "DaGe" Vince. I did not really think much and was just all in not to miss next year kids camp. To my surprise, I received a sudden request from lindy to help out as befriender of both Zhiyu (CCF Beneficiary) and Zhiqi (Zhiyu's brother). This time round being a befriender was really moments of mixed feelings and Zave atually almost shedded tears TWICE.

Incident 1:

I was eating the provided lunch with another befriender when Zhiyu walked towards me with two "agar-agar" in his hand. One for himself and One for me. I really din expect that. Serious. How many kids will actually remember their befrienders?

Incident 2:

Dinner on the second night was a serving of rice with complementary cabbage and fried fish fillet. Both Zhiyu and myself finished our dinner. Zhiyu requested to have a second serving which I greatly encouraged. I requested Zhiyu to take a fried fish fillet for me since he was going to accept another serving. He willingly did so. Samantha (CCF beneficiary) sat opposite me and commented that she likes fried fish fillet. Without hesitation, I passed the fish fillet that Zhiyu took for me to Samantha. And guess what? Zhiyu sat quietly at his place trying very hard to cut his own fish fillet into half. He remarked that the other half is for me!! 落泪！Of course, I couldnt bear to. I had him to finish the fillet all by himself.

These two incidents alone are simply enough for me. =) May god bless him and all the kids.

However, it isnt encouraging to read recent papers with overwhelming news of G-20 summit, preventing the next economic crisis, the growing in strength of emerging markets, retrenchment is only the last resort, government's proposals to salvage the current situation, etc.
An update: NOL is retrenching approximately 1,000 staff while New Zealang Airway is gtg for a 200 number!
Its NOT the X'mas season but axe-ing season. >.< Gosh!

Close to a week's ago, DBS bank announced on the retrenchment of approximately 900 staff from both Singapore and Hong Kong.
This morning's paper reported that another US giant, Citigroup, is planning to axe around 52,000 workers across the globe. (ps. Citigroup has a total of 9000 staff located in Singapore)
Gosh! This is definitely not a good sign for business graduating students like us.

So, what have I been doing so far?
Went to collect my professional attachment report on Friday. Comments from Prof. E'lfred, "Well Written. Demonstrates good industry and organisation insights!"
It was my last radio programme on Friday. Instead of interviewing external guests on my show, I had the other DJs on board "聪之作". Special thanks to Yi Fang, Shu Ning, Benny and Jin! It was 2-hours of fun, laughter, emotional feeling and me feeling "hot". Hehe =)

Exams Preparation Status: Both personal notes (for all chapters) and tutorials done for wealth planning and abnormal psychology. Whee~! No preparation needed for radio practicum as its not examinable. My focus for today and Monday, 30% worth of wealth planning project. JIAyou Zave!

Cultural Differences?

Was looking at SPH daily wanbao again. The 灵数占卜 for yesterday was "Will you be rewarded for your work". Its kinda true again!

For life, the explanations go: "You are always very serious and sincere when it comes to work. You do have your group mates and company in mind. You are an exceptionally good performer. Salary is a definite thing for you. However, sadly, you are often been viewed as arrogant and selfish. People protray you as boot-licker which jeopardise your chances of promotion."

For this work year, the reasonings go: "This year would be a year full of obstacles and challenges. This is the main reason which drain off a measurable portion of your energy. Though your professor likes you BUT you may not reap what you sow. Do try not to have too high an expectation as chances of disappointment are relatively on par."

Sometimes, I am really wondering if there is an existence of cultural difference. I am involved in a module project this semester. Honestly, I am proud that I did quite a lot of stuff which involves planning, liasing , doing to concern about minor issues that have high chance of adding colors to the group's paper. I met up with professionals to seek their advices and worked on important notes to be shared during group meeting. Why is it that I get challenged when I proposed ideas, especially by people from different cultural background? Was it hatred or mere constructive feedbacks? I guess it is the latter?

It was wealth planning 10% quiz this afternoon.
We were given about 10 minutes to complete 10 MCQs.
Gosh ... how come hardwork don't equate to results sometimes?
I am feeling tired.
Is it really a matter of luck or my hippocampus is diminishing? Help!!!

My guests from one of the charitable organisations were about 40 minutes late from scheduled and the CD player in radio booth kept playing tricks on me. Overall, I suppose I did not enjoy the programme today.

A visit to Institute of mental health (NTU psychology undergraduates)

- We should understand that unfortunates, those mentally ill, do exist in our this fast-paced society. We must be thankful and appreciate what we have today!

Wednesday:

The third time of donating blood wasnt that smooth sailing. Perhaps due to insufficient sleep coupled with an early lunch, I almost con-cussed! Gosh! Will a develop a phobia thereafter? It was the 7th week into doing our radio programme. 老师 said the following:

- There R definitely improvements made in view of programme plan (songs inception) and interviewing skills
- I am natural in doing programmes that interviews representatives from non-profit organisations
- Can definitely see the efforts in understanding the organisations (homework done and information collected), liaising with the representatives and "post-programme" follow up
- For my programme, it is not easy to manage alone, especially as a single host
- It is definitely a great learning experience for everyone

Glad that I scored AVERAGE for psychology mid-term. In view of it being a challenging paper, I am contented as NOT to fall into the "outliers" category! I had no class yesterday BUT went back to school to preside UOC09 Comm Meeting. Ran some errands on my way to school - pay mobile and internet bills, order my father's 52th birthday cake, renew-ed my popular student card and bought a blackforest cake from Polar Puffs and Cakes for Siew Huai and Ying Wei's birthday (my runway "successor" and programmer respectively).

Everyone seems to have the empty expression on their faces. Ehx .. I guess its because semestral examinations are coming. Thank god that I have the mini group discussions and birthday celebration that "salvage" the situation.

Gonna read up on my self-sourced notes for wealth planning and I am going to donate blood in school tml! Its going to be my third time donating!

If you happened to have "Lianhe Wanbao" at home, do read the column on 灵数占卜！I think it is damn accurate. I have been trying out several times and they are really quite true. The question in today's paper is "Will my child be successful?". After counting the number based on both my dad & Mum's birth dates. The results are:

For my mum,

An on-air interview with MDAS

It was a great opportunity to be able to interview the representatives from Muscular Dystrophy Association of Singapore. It was also a hard to come by chance to understand and know more about Sherena and Boon Keng. Boon Keng reinforced the "We can do it" belief in me whereas Sherena mentioned "See what you can do and not what you cant". In addition, Sherena has always believed in living life to the fullest.

For today's on-air programme, I would say I did a pretty decent piece of job. Sherena remarked that I am doing the programme from the very bottom of my heart, being very causal with no rigid script yet abiding to the missions of my programme.

Similarly, a sms comment from my fellow DJ mate is as follow: "I only listen til 6pm but I think it's very good cos you describe what you observed from the interviewee. eg. the smile, wheelchair bounded, etc. And I also like the way you link the songs with your topic. eg. jay's chou duan le de xuan =)"

I shall continue to improve by not saying "那" so often! =X

Settled on Angie-The-Choice's "万寿无疆" cake (the longevity series) for this Sunday 三叔公's 70th birthday! It is going to be something like the above. A good choice? But the way, it is pretty large (approximately 40cm) and costed my Dad $203.41 after Safra Card discount. Woah!

Time is flying! Some updates before the semester break ...

My radio practicum class has been fun with a total new experience of me being a DJ. It was only after being a DJ that I finally realised how important it is for a DJ to be vigilant and able to multi-task.

Was hosting my on-air programme last Friday when I received the following sms from my secretary, Roslyn.

"Hahax interesting listening to our chairperson as dj .. Thanks for entertaining us canteen b muggers. Cya! =) ..........Haha no lei but ended up being so engrossed in listening instead of studying ... gd taste in songs. haha!"

Not too sure if my short stories are good when aired but received the following request from my fellow radio practicum tutorial mate:

"Halo. Are you free tmr? Can help me to record a short vo?"

On the side of Student Union Orientation Camp Committee, I held a meeting last Thursday. The Orientation Executive from Student Union Executive Committee was rather impressed with how I carried and handled the meeting. A great job well done Zave!

After a pretty tough "battle", I am finally chosen as the Chairperson for Union Orientation Camp 2009. With the fact that I am currently in my final year of business study, coupled with the inflow of "new-blood", I trust that it would be disputable of me being bestowed the chair. Like many seniors, I was once a freshie and Union Orientation Camp had once gave me fond memories and valuable experiences. Hence, it is rather significant for me to coordinate the camp before I convocate. In anycase, I did it! Am so proud of myself. Thanks to everyone who have helped me in building my positive track records in Union. I am thankful.

The past few days of interviewing potential committee members are pretty draining and took up measurable amount of my study time. The situation is further being challenged with me doing up my own radio programme. The environment may be challenging to me but I trust that I am able to perform all tasks well as I always did.

I am delighted that my production "Those were the days" ran smoothly too! A great job well done to the crew. You guys deserve the best actors and actresses awards.

It's 22nd Aug 2008 (Friday)!

I am excited NOT because

- I completed two chapters of revision on Abnormal Psychology
- I completed two and a half chapters of Wealth Planning read-up
- I submitted my application for scholarship (CFA examinations)
- I learnt how to DJs (I will be hosting a Chinese on-air programme titled "聪之作" every Friday, 5pm to 7pm for the whole of this semester at NTU's Canteen B's radio booth)

I am excited BECAUSE tommorrow is Children Cancer Foundation annual family day. The committee's baby is soon to be delivered. May my production "Those were the days" be a success!

Time Flies.

Still remember the very first meeting for our family day was after my pscyhology paper. 1o weeks of internship went by with quite a few family day meetings after work. Really cannot imagine that next week is the actual famuly day for the beneficiaries, parents and children inclusive.

Helped Jason in giving the presentation yesterday. I trust that I did a great job in giving the preso and executing the ice breaking game. The rehearsal for my production "Those were the days" was fun and everthing went quite smoothly.

The first week of school involved going for radio practicum class, abnormal psychology and I am here to announce ... I F.I.N.A.L.L.Y got Wealth Planning module! It was really a finger's game! =D

Saturday was spent reading up on Wealth Planning, Abnormal Psychology and deciding which department to venture for radio practicum class. Eh, I shall have it in the following order: Production, Programming & Music. Though it is just the very first week, I have been A.C.T.I.V.E.L.Y looking for part-time job (in view of my pretty "empty" academic timetable). Haha!

Signed up for USA Work and Travel briefing seminar and dispatched a few resumes. =p Have earlier thought of running for Union Orientation Camp 2009's Chairperson and Y.E.T, I desire to go for Work and Travel. In any case, the former shall supersede. =) Will be applying for CFA scholarship this Tuesday. I shall just try . . .

Day 5. 24 Jul - SP date. The date was great but the audition was a nightmare. Fright Night (scary sh*t)..

forth day of the camp was a relaxing day. we had our SP date. each girl was allocated a male partner. the male partner was to visit the chalet where his girl is in and try to date the girl out by going thru various forfeits and tasks given by the seniors. haha. yeah, so i went on a date with my sp. haha! lucky we both tried to come out with topic, so all along the way, we were full of crap, speaking non stop. haha! yeah. then we headed to bugis for lunch at waraku. nice food! haha then watched the dark knight. haha! i kept falling asleep in the show, so my sp kept waking me up, haha! super funny. yeah. then we went back to the chalet to meet up with the group. haha. we all shared our sp date experiences, super funny and nice. then next was the fright night. it was super cool i SWEAR! haha. then back to sleeppppp

- i can rmb we waited 2hrs for our turn to bathe, all 30+ppl share one toilet.

Spent the whole of today's afternoon wiping my wardrobe, computer desk, bedroom's furnitures, etc. A clean room to usher in the new semester! Haha

It seems like it is more problematic to plan your cirriculum timetable with lesser modules to take. I thought it is the other way round?

I have planned to clear 10 AUs this semester but I am given only 4AUs now. Hmm, its either Wealth Planning or Psychological adjustment & mental health that I wanna to take. But, the former will or should be given priority. And for elective, its either radio practicum or traditional chinese medicine. But for this case, its the latter to be given priority.

Thought it is just another day to wake up and continue with my internship paper. Was greeted by a sms that read: "Hi, I just sent to hotmail about what Veronica of BNP said ... Read it. Well done boy! U do us proud."

After logging onto my PC, the email from my regional head, Ms. Veronica, read:

"Zhicong is really a very smart guy, very prim and proper and has immaculate manners. We made him work, really working like a permanent staff. He does not complain and has lots of initiative. Although it was a short stint, all our backlogs in the team are gone! In short, he is really a miracle worker. If I have any chance, I want to get him into the Bank for a permanent job. I think he wants to do marketing type of positions. He said that he learnt a lot from the team who worked with him. One day, I will show you what he made for us as farewell and thank you souvenirs. He is really innovative and talented. Don’t we wish we have kids like him? You might want to tell his mum and dad what I said. They should be proud of him. He is very focused and there is no doubt he will do well in his studies."

Seriously, I am really really very happy. I am thankful!

Union Orientation Camp 2008 ended with an astounding success. It was a great experience playing the role of a programmer. Though it was mostly backroom or should I say "behind-the-scene" type of job scope, I was glad to be able to present a memorable Project Runway (Fright Night) for this year's freshie.

Firstly, I would like to thank Huifen and Kianhai for appointing me as the head of Project Runway. Thanks to the other programmers who gave up this position to me. I am sorry and I apologise if I did cause any unhappiness. Secondly, all my subcomms in the Runway team. Thanks to Hui Ming, Zhuoyuan, Liping, Han and Mindy. I appreciate all of your efforts and commitments from the very first meeting last year to runway execution last Thursday. It was indeed tiring for the nights of Wednesday and Thursday. But, you guys pulled through. It was seriously not easy preparing and engaging in the post-runway clean up. Next, thank you so much to all the participants in this year's Project Runway. I can only say that all of you rockz and definitely deserve the best actors and actresses awards. Your "never say die" efforts really impressed and touched me. Guys, really apologise for the very late blog. Was busy in preparing momentos for my colleagues, preparation for Project Runway and went for camp. Here are pictures of gifts I prepared for them.

Currently, I am engaged in three major events. They are my curriculum internship, CCF's family day and student union's annual orientation camp. Initially, I thought I would get to enjoy every single moment of the preparation process. However, it seems like I am just too busy to take pleasure in. And I am here to announce that Zave is officially sick!

An update of my recent schedule:

Saturday

Went for IPPT in the morning (Results: Shuttle Run: 10.2s, Sit-ups: 38, SBJ: 193 (Zave just cant jump), Chin-up: 8, 2.4km run: 11.05mins)

Returned back to campus for UOC senior camp. I was involved in giving presentation in view of "Project Runway" to all the participating seniors. I was rather glad to receive all the "hoo-ha" from the floor. In addition, the chief programmer remarked that we seem to be slightly over for this year fright night. Haha! This means something ..."Project Runway" has a high chance of being successful!

Recee for fright night

If you readers remember my post dropped a half-year ago on my recee for orientation fright night program, that place is not booked by my fellow committee members! Haiz. Thus, with my team members, we went to recee the new venue given to us. It was a raining morning (how good to sleep in bed right?) and under the generous kisses from all the mosquitoes, we recee-ed the pretty "problematic" place.

- The "freshies" chalets are so near to the "fright night" chalets (They might catch a glimpse of what we are preparing for them)
- The security & reception office are so near to the chalets that we are using. I am praying real hard for the security guards to go on leave during the actual
- Detailing will most probably be the "weakest link" this year (I want to minimise contacts among the freshies as much as possible)

In any case, I trust and will conquer all the problems! Stay tuned to my post for the actual (upcoming in late july)

Volunteer : Saturday

Hair for Hope 08 (Children Cancer Foundation's annual event) is just a couple of weeks away. This signifies Zave's one year bond with CCF. I really never regret joining. After the briefing at KKH, the few of us went to BakerzIn @ United Square and subsequently Chinatown Hawker Place. It was really a fruitful day with Vince teaching us how to "prepare" a good pot of claypot rice and the different positons to play pool! I "won" dajie in that game of pool under real "no-rules" conditions! Hei Boo~

A week without my internship supervisor

My supervisor was on leave the whole of last week. Things got busier of course but it was manageable for me. It seems like I am able to work better without L.O.V.E from ...! I am handling the "situation" well!

A belated birthday surprise!

It was the day after my birthday. A Monday! (Monday Blue?) At first, I thought it would just be another ordinary day after internship with running, crunches and push-ups to end off the day. To my surprise, C arranged a trip to Sentosa. She told me that it was a "gift" to celebrate my belated birthday. C really plays the game well and strategically. We went to watch the 3D show, Underwater World & "Songs of the Sea" by the beach performance. It was really fruitful as we covered quite a few places and in consideration that it was after-work kind of timing. Moreover, we even went to Marche (Zave's treat) @ VivoCity for our very late dinner. I appreciate what C did and it was really an enjoyable trip for me. Looking forward to be on "Singapore Flyer" next Monday!

My 24th Birthday

Everyone has their own unique way of celebrating their birthday. You can commemorate with your classmates, friends, partners, etceteras. Whenever you are, whoever you are with, there is always a time to return home and celebrate with your loved ones - Family Members. Initially, I wanted to go to Sentosa Palawang Beach to enjoy my birthday. However, I was unable to find available khaki. Nevertheless, I was very happy and contented that day. With my family members, we went to Junction8's Crystal Jade Restaurant to have a feast. I know that the bill came up to quite a sum. For everything, I give thanks! This year, my cake was from "Polar Puffs and Cakes" and it was complimented with tiramisu and mango desserts purchased by my brother. A year older, A year wiser! May all my dreams and wishes come true =)

Mentor: No! Definitely not. The problem lies in you giving in a little too much to the girl you fancy. You are still learning how to get involved and detached.

This is perhaps a reason as to why a budding relationship fails. It has been two similar cases in a row. Maybe, I am just not a gamer in relationship. I have planned, organised and did so much and only to get a completely different outcome. I thought everything has been running well? What is just the main reason behind?

Why can't the person you fancy likes you as much as you do. Why must a girl you have not much interest in did so much for you. Is this how the game is played? Why cant situations be simplier and easier to manage?

For F, your reasons sounded just too contridicting but I shall accept it like how I always treat you. I trust and am confident that there will always be a better girl for me. For C, I really appreciate what you did for me. I know the word "Thank You" is not what you want and of cos of no beat to me accepting you as my girlfriend. We shall let nature takes its course. Headed off to "The Central" @ CLarke Quay after my volunteer meeting yesterday. Met up with my mentor to share and seek her advices on relationship issues. While waiting for her, I was rather surprised to see Siping (psychology tutorial mate aka Ah ma) working at the hair salon. We chatted till an interruption by a customer. With my mentor, we went to "Azabu Sabo" and "TCC" for desserts and drinks.

Semestral Result release!

I guess I did not perform as well this semester. It is a blessing in view that I did not "flung" my Advance Corp Finance (if you peeps remember my post a month ago) and I achieved an "A" for my communication module. It is disappointing in view that I did not perform as well (up to my own expectations) for my psychology, corporate lending and research methods. Anyway, I did my best! My internship boss was on medical leave yesterday. It was pretty an anticipation as she was sneezing non-stop on Thursday. Anyway, it was a fruitful day for me.

Received back my very first internship report. The comments from my boss as follow:

"Zhicong is well mannered and easy to work with. He takes instructions well and comes across as a fast learner. He takes initiative to learn and applies his knowledge well."

I will not be complacent with the above. Shall continue to work hard and learn as much as I could.

Done with Famuly Day 08's skit proposal. Hope the other committee members are fine and will accept it. I used my whole Saturday afternoon to get it done.
