Cultural Differences?
Blogged by.. Knight-errant @ 4:07 AM
Was looking at SPH daily wanbao again. The 灵数占卜 for yesterday was "Will you be rewarded for your work". Its kinda true again!
For life, the explanations go: "You are always very serious and sincere when it comes to work. You do have your group mates and company in mind. You are an exceptionally good performer. Salary is a definite thing for you. However, sadly, you are often been viewed as arrogant and selfish. People protray you as boot-licker which jeopardise your chances of promotion."
For this work year, the reasonings go: "This year would be a year full of obstacles and challenges. This is the main reason which drain off a measurable portion of your energy. Though your professor likes you BUT you may not reap what you sow. Do try not to have too high an expectation as chances of disappointment are relatively on par."
Sometimes, I am really wondering if there is an existence of cultural difference. I am involved in a module project this semester. Honestly, I am proud that I did quite a lot of stuff which involves planning, liasing , doing to concern about minor issues that have high chance of adding colors to the group's paper. I met up with professionals to seek their advices and worked on important notes to be shared during group meeting. Why is it that I get challenged when I proposed ideas, especially by people from different cultural background? Was it hatred or mere constructive feedbacks? I guess it is the latter?

Keep the fire burning ...
Blogged by.. Knight-errant @ 8:58 AM
It is only after today that I realised how much difference there is in view of theories in textbook and real life applications. =p I have been really ignorant yar? Hehe
I have approximately 140 pages more to complete my psychology textbook. (It is a timeline given by myself! Cortisol hormones forming again! >.<) Status: 30 pages completed.

It's not Friday the 13th . . yet . . .
Blogged by.. Knight-errant @ 6:16 AM
It was wealth planning 10% quiz this afternoon.
We were given about 10 minutes to complete 10 MCQs.
Gosh ... how come hardwork don't equate to results sometimes?
I am feeling tired.
Is it really a matter of luck or my hippocampus is diminishing? Help!!!
My guests from one of the charitable organisations were about 40 minutes late from scheduled and the CD player in radio booth kept playing tricks on me. Overall, I suppose I did not enjoy the programme today.

A visit to Institute of mental health (NTU psychology undergraduates)
Blogged by.. Knight-errant @ 2:38 AM
Some thoughts after the visit:
- Institute of Mental Health has indeed changed a lot from the past
- We should understand that unfortunates, those mentally ill, do exist in our this fast-paced society. We must be thankful and appreciate what we have today!
- Lets all work hard to correct the stigma that general public have with regards to the mentally ill

Need a Breath-ER space
Blogged by.. Knight-errant @ 10:42 PM
Wednesday:
The third time of donating blood wasnt that smooth sailing. Perhaps due to insufficient sleep coupled with an early lunch, I almost con-cussed! Gosh! Will a develop a phobia thereafter? It was the 7th week into doing our radio programme. 老师 said the following:
- There R definitely improvements made in view of programme plan (songs inception) and interviewing skills
- I am natural in doing programmes that interviews representatives from non-profit organisations
- Can definitely see the efforts in understanding the organisations (homework done and information collected), liaising with the representatives and "post-programme" follow up
- For my programme, it is not easy to manage alone, especially as a single host
- It is definitely a great learning experience for everyone
Great Job Zave!
Thursday:
Glad that I scored AVERAGE for psychology mid-term. In view of it being a challenging paper, I am contented as NOT to fall into the "outliers" category! BooWhee~ Was interviewed by Nanyang Chronicles for the latest 3G camera in our radio booth. Do look out for the next issue of Nanyang Chronicles! =D
Friday:
My radio programme went smoothly as usual. Cheers to 晓君(rep from CDAC) and myself for the great job well done!
Lao Shi called to check out some information with regards to the past charitable organisations that I interviewed. She is going to do something related to non-profit entities for her commercialised radio programme. Whee~
Saturday:
Being selected for this year Children Cancer Foundation Annual Camp's group leader, was involved in interviewing befrienders (newbies into CCF). I shall continue to have the "never say die" attitude and to find yet another niche for myself.

UOC09 Comm Meeting
Blogged by.. Knight-errant @ 6:57 AM
I had no class yesterday BUT went back to school to preside UOC09 Comm Meeting. Ran some errands on my way to school - pay mobile and internet bills, order my father's 52th birthday cake, renew-ed my popular student card and bought a blackforest cake from Polar Puffs and Cakes for Siew Huai and Ying Wei's birthday (my runway "successor" and programmer respectively).
Everyone seems to have the empty expression on their faces. Ehx .. I guess its because semestral examinations are coming. Thank god that I have the mini group discussions and birthday celebration that "salvage" the situation.
Gonna read up on my self-sourced notes for wealth planning and I am going to donate blood in school tml! Its going to be my third time donating!
If you happened to have "Lianhe Wanbao" at home, do read the column on 灵数占卜!I think it is damn accurate. I have been trying out several times and they are really quite true. The question in today's paper is "Will my child be successful?". After counting the number based on both my dad & Mum's birth dates. The results are:
For my mum,
"Your child is a leader, cheerful, intelligent, humorous and able to articulate. He/She is creative which requires you to support him/her of "out-of-the box" type of ideas. Your child is suitable to be entrepreneur, photographer or jewellery dealers."
For my dad,
"Your child is obedient, quiet but may be quite slow at his/her work at times. He is helpful and kind but temperamental. You must teach and incalcate them on how to see things from the correct perspective inorder to avoid the risk of being taken advantage of. Your child is suitable to be in the information technology line or human resource management."
This is kinda accurate! Serious
For myself,
"Your child is shy and need to brush up on his/her communication and human management. The good point is that he/she is observant, analytically gifted and is a fast learner. As parent, you should encourage him/her to exoress his/her views more. The child is suitable for research studies, be a mathematician or economist" - Will my future child be like this? Good OR bad?

An on-air interview with MDAS
Blogged by.. Knight-errant @ 9:08 AM
It was a great opportunity to be able to interview the representatives from Muscular Dystrophy Association of Singapore. It was also a hard to come by chance to understand and know more about Sherena and Boon Keng. Boon Keng reinforced the "We can do it" belief in me whereas Sherena mentioned "See what you can do and not what you cant". In addition, Sherena has always believed in living life to the fullest.
For today's on-air programme, I would say I did a pretty decent piece of job. Sherena remarked that I am doing the programme from the very bottom of my heart, being very causal with no rigid script yet abiding to the missions of my programme.
Similarly, a sms comment from my fellow DJ mate is as follow: "I only listen til 6pm but I think it's very good cos you describe what you observed from the interviewee. eg. the smile, wheelchair bounded, etc. And I also like the way you link the songs with your topic. eg. jay's chou duan le de xuan =)"
I shall continue to improve by not saying "那" so often! =X

Ordered a birthday cake!
Blogged by.. Knight-errant @ 7:53 PM

Settled on Angie-The-Choice's "万寿无疆" cake (the longevity series) for this Sunday 三叔公's 70th birthday! It is going to be something like the above. A good choice? But the way, it is pretty large (approximately 40cm) and costed my Dad $203.41 after Safra Card discount. Woah!
Finally done with my last chapter of psychology notes! Going to campus today for my radio programme. Welcoming the representatives from Muscular Dystrophy Association, Singapore to come to "聪之作" on-air programme.

CCF Children Day 08
Blogged by.. Knight-errant @ 6:50 PM

Dont I look like some "artiste" at some "award-ceremony"? Lols

The Preparation

The Moments
Children Day dress-up party was an astounding success last Saturday. It was a day full of surprises with myself "over-shoting bus-stops", all the different characters, been termed "best-dressed" and of course "dage" Edric proposing to dajie Pamela. Its soon time for me to be the flowerboy under the wedding bell! Haha
Has been mugging on both my wealth planning and abnormal psychology. On my way to conquer the latter's quiz next week! JIAyous Zave! With all the consistent notes and diligent attendance for lectures, its a time to score. Cheers~
Going to order a birthday cake later for San(1) Shu(1) Gong(1)'s 70th birthday celebration this Sunday!
